AL SHAHEED PARK PHASE 3 OPENS: A NEW CHAPTER FOR KUWAIT

Kuwait woke up to something new on October 1, 2026.

One of the country's most familiar landmarks, Al Shaheed Park, opened the doors to its much-anticipated Phase 3, bringing together a new mix of entertainment, sports, culture and family experiences.

For many visitors, opening day was more than simply the launch of another attraction. It felt like the park had entered a new chapter.

From an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink and Snow Fun to electric karting, the Sky Tunnel, Skate Park, parkour facilities, outdoor spaces and the impressive new Al-Soor Theatre, Phase 3 offers something for almost every age group.

And on October 1, people came out to experience it for themselves.

FROM INAUGURATION TO OPENING DAY

The official inauguration took place on the evening of September 30 at the newly opened Al-Soor Theatre, under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah attended as the Amir's representative and formally inaugurated the new phase.

The ceremony brought together senior government officials, cultural figures, artists and invited guests. It included the national anthem, Quranic recitation and presentations highlighting the importance of the project to Kuwait's cultural, social and recreational landscape.

The following day, October 1, the doors opened to the public, giving residents and visitors their first opportunity to explore the new phase.

A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE

The biggest change is the variety.

Phase 3 expands Al Shaheed Park beyond its traditional identity as a green urban space and introduces a much wider range of activities.

Visitors can now enjoy an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink, Snow Fun, electric go-karting, a Sky Tunnel, Skate Park and parkour facilities. There are also walking and jogging areas, fountains, a maze, an Amphitheatre and an outdoor cinema.

It means you can come for an active day, a family outing, an evening with friends or simply to see what is new.

Children can enjoy the snow experience and family activities, while teenagers and adults have skating, karting and adventure experiences to choose from. Those looking for something quieter can explore the outdoor areas or enjoy cultural performances.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

For anyone planning a visit, one of the first questions is naturally: how much does it cost?

The finalized prices for the main attractions include:

KD 5.5 / 55 minutes

Ice Skating Viewing Experience

KD 1.5 KD

One of the advantages is that visitors can choose the experiences they are most interested in rather than having to pay for everything.

You can explore the park first, take in the atmosphere and then decide whether you want to add ice skating, Snow Fun, karting or another activity to your day.

AL-SOOR THEATRE TAKES CENTRE STAGE

One of the most significant additions to Phase 3 is Al-Soor Theatre, a new performance venue with seating for around 2,300 people.

The theatre opened with Al-Soor (The Wall), a special national production inspired by Kuwait's historic wall.

Through theatre, music and visual storytelling, the production revisited important moments in Kuwait's history while highlighting themes of unity, loyalty, solidarity and belonging.

It was a fitting beginning for a new cultural landmark — using Kuwait's history to introduce a space designed for its future.

WHAT HAPPENED ON OPENING DAY?

October 1 had a completely different feel from the formal inauguration the night before.

Families, children, young people, residents and curious visitors came to see what was new. The opening programme included puppet shows, science demonstrations and extreme-sports performances, including skating and parkour.

Visitors moved between the attractions, taking photographs, watching demonstrations and discovering the new spaces.

Some headed straight for the ice rink and Snow Fun, while others were more interested in karting, skating and adventure activities. For many, simply walking through the newly opened areas and seeing the transformation was part of the experience.

There was a sense of discovering something new in the heart of a place that many people already knew so well.

MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER ATTRACTION

What makes Phase 3 stand out is the combination of experiences.

It is not simply a sports facility, an entertainment centre or a traditional park. It brings together green space, culture, sports, technology and family entertainment in one destination.

That gives Al Shaheed Park a broader appeal and strengthens its position as one of Kuwait City's key lifestyle and leisure destinations.

It also reflects how people increasingly experience cities. Visitors want places where they can spend time, try something different, meet friends, bring their families and create memories — all in one location.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR AL SHAHEED PARK

Every major project eventually becomes more than its buildings and facilities. People give it meaning through the memories they create there.

A child's first-time skating on the ice. A family discovering Snow Fun together. Friends competing on the karting track. Someone experiencing the Sky Tunnel for the first time. An evening watching a performance at Al-Soor Theatre.

These are the moments that will eventually give Phase 3 its identity.

October 1, 2026 was therefore more than the opening of another section of Al Shaheed Park. It was the beginning of a new chapter — one that brings together Kuwait's history, culture, recreation and future in one remarkable destination.

For residents and visitors alike, Al Shaheed Park Phase 3 is now another place in Kuwait worth discovering.

Prices and operating arrangements may change. Visitors are advised to check the latest information before visiting.
